Brian has been passionate about advocating for members since joining the policing profession almost 29 years ago. He believes in the organization’s capacity to represent members and that a strong OPA Board makes a difference.
Brian became the Vice President of the OPA in January of 2019 and became the Interim President in April of 2022. Prior to becoming President, in this his fourth term on the Board since 2010, Brian has chaired numerous committees, including Lounge, Facilities, Finance, Funeral, Grievance, Shift and Joint Health and Safety Committees. Brian has also been a part of the Bargaining Team for 4 contracts, including our most recent award in the fall of 2021.
Brian has attended numerous Police Association of Ontario and Canadian Police Association courses and conferences, obtaining his Level 2 Certification under the PAO, and graduating from the Harvard/Telfer School of Business Executive Leadership program. With this training he has built up a greater knowledge of what is needed and required to do this job; to better represent the OPA’s membership.
Brian has shown the ability to balance his work with the OPA, his regular policing duties as a S/Sgt on FLD, and most importantly, his family life, over the past twelve years. He has never lost focus of the task at hand and looks forward to continuing the building of a strong organization and enhancing the levels of service that the OPA can provide to its members.
